We shall see how long his tough on Conservative schtick lasts.
He wants this government gone? He should vote whatever it takes to get them gone.

Trying to spin it that the NDP are keeping Harper in power is totally laughable ... and the voting record shows that Liberal fear is Harper's biggest political asset at the moment.

In all fairness to you, Mr. Curran, yes I have noticed that 'you' have been raising a call to arms against the heathen Tories!
However, by and large, Mr. Dion has not ... I suppose it is not fair of me to make you 'wear' Dion's failings, but unfortunately for Liberals across the land, you are tarred with the same brush, and 'guilt by association' dogs you.

Fortunately, there's thousand like me. That is the only reason that Dion can feel safe in the fact that, although his generals refuse to get ready for an election, the soldiers already are.

Well that is comforting somewhat because I do adhere to the old saw, "the enemy of my enemy is my friend."
But back to the thrust of this post; for the NDP to not support the Liberal budget amendment does not mean that we support Harper. We will vote against all amendments and will vote aggressively against the Budget itself ... but what will Dion do? Leave a handful of Lib MP's in the House to give a token vote against Harper's budget?
Throw the beggars out! NOW!
(See ... we differ very little on the substantive issue).

As a warm up exercise, I would LOVE to see the Tories get a good bloody scare in Alberta tomorrow! I would consider a Stelmach minority a great victory! (and gawd forbid, a Taft minority would be bliss ... understanding of course that he would require Alberta New Democrats to prop him up) .... the enemy of my enemy is my friend!

Even though the Liberal amendment was carefully crafted so that the NDP could not support it, I wish they would, if only to force the Liberals to abstain on their own amendment.
When the libs want to quit acting like "juveniles" and put up a budget amendment that actually has political "merit and relevance", they would vote for it.
But the NDP is not into playing cheap politics and theatre, unlike the libs it seems.

It sets out the expenses of MP's that is also set out in the Hill Times - the biggest spenders are the NDP - they don't mind spending the average working person's taxes at all it appears.

The Liberal amendment is a juvenile prank. It is the parliamentary equivalent to a flaming bag on the NDP's doorstep. No one takes it seriously, not even Liberals.
Today you've got Scott Brison saying an election would cost more than it's worth to end the Harper agenda. That's the Liberal position.
Case in point. The Horse weighs in on Scott Brison. Interesting. 4 Conservative scandals and the Horse weighs in with a Brison comment. Brison? WTH? Brison?
The Horse and Jan have utilized the "juvenile" talking point issued as standard NDP fare.

ok, James, since this is about revisionism of historical facts, let's go back to the fall of the libs minority govt, where Martin basically thought he could make it look like others toppled the libs govt, but thought he could win. Also, he wouldn't amend the budget for health care, like rein in privatization, but that's another matter.
So here are the facts, which you are well know but want to 'blame' the NDP so that you get NDP votes.
In that final vote count, the reality was that even with the combined vote of libs and NDP, the libs didn't have enough votes to keep their minority govt afloat.
The combined vote - cons, bloc, and 3 independents - against the supporting the govt(without the NDP votes) was more than the combined votes of libs and NDP.
You know that, so why don't you rant at those 3 independent voters, or the bloc, and why pick on the NDP?
We all know the answer to that one - attracting NDP voters!
Please spare me your rhetoric. When did libs become 'victims' so that we need to feel sorry for them.
