Harper Doesn't Care About Canada or Canadians

How else can you explain it???

On a day when you have Maxime Bernier dictating who the Afghani Government should be appointing as Governor of one of their own provinces; when there are questions about Afghan detainees and the Canadian investigation of said detainee turnovers; and, on a day when a Canadian citizen faces 5 years in a Mexican jail, what is Stephen Harper concerned about most? I mean what really gets him in the throat? AUTO THEFT OF COURSE!!!

If it's the right thing to do, why is it buried in a budget bill? I thought this government was supposed to be more transparent!!!

Here a Budget, There a Budget, Everywhere a Budget

There's no end to the recklessness of this government. None whatsoever. Mon Dieu. What it won't do to try to get an election.

How many budgets can a person have in 12 months? My guess? 3.

Creative tax cutting 101. On your first annual budget, increase the Liberal personal income tax rate from 15% to 15.5%. Then, in your fiscal update, make it sound like another budget in the same year as the first budget. Then, announce a personal income tax cut in your fiscal update to 15% from 15.5%...the same as it was in 2005 under the previous government and call it genius.

As for the GST cut? Well, I'm quite certain the thousands of economists around the country are already in disagreement. $5.4 billion a year could have went a long way for municipalities, health care, child care, the environment, etc. Oh well. I'm sure the CONS have some kind of smoke screen for those issues.

The corporate big brothers and the upper class continue to open the gap on poverty in the country.

I for one will be reaping the benefits of my extra $18 per month to support my Starbucks addiction.

What more can you expect from the most embarrassing PM in the history of Canada? Would you expect him to speak out against this ridiculous bill? The same man that cancelled Kyoto, Kids and Kelowna, voted against aboriginal rights at the UN, refuses to acknowledge climate change, bribes candidates with payouts, moves money back and forth to receive election rebates.

The long and the short of it is that the Harper government has zero respect for minorities in this country, and, speaking out against this heinous bill might affect his voter "base" in Quebec.

Maxime Bernier the Latest Conswervative Fraudster

I expected - for some reason unbeknownst to me - Maxime Bernier to perform with a little more integrity than what he is exhibiting. Of course I am referring to his and Bev Oda's visit to Kabul.

Let me just express my concern for the irony and bullshit of their visit. Just prior to their landing in Kabul a bomb goes off killing one US soldier and a dozen Afghanis. The bomb set off by Taliban insurgents. In the south, in the Province of Kandahar, Canadian soldiers race out to chase Taliban insurgents away form the area.

Meanwhile, back in Kabul, Karazi unveils his "new plan" to begin negotiating with the same Taliban we are being killed by and are there to eradicate. Maxime's response? "it's up to the Afghan government if they want to do that".

Um. No Maxime. It's YOUR job to say that the only reason Canada was there was to rid your country of this group that suppresses women and children's rights and causes an unacceptable, undemocratic society.

So to recap. Our soldiers are there in Afghanistan to fight the same people that the Afghanistan government wants to bring back into the fold. No wonder Korea left!

Survey Says....The Conservatives Are Failing

That's no surprise to many of us. This new poll out is just proof that Canadians are paying attention. Most Canadians appear to want our Kyoto agreement to be enacted. Most also feel Harper's 2020 target is far too far away.

Thank goodness Mr. Harper is set to represent us on the world stage today. If Canadians don't believe him, I'm certain the rest of the world won't either. I'm also looking forward to the embarrassment of an Environment Minister, John Baird to speak later in the week.

Canada is Failing in Afghanistan

We all called for the removal of Gordon O'Connor for his incredible incompetance on the Afghan detainee file(amongst a million other things he did wrong). But now Peter McKay is the new O'Connor and the Conswervative government just continues to go stale.

50 detainees appear to have gone missing. Not one or two, but, 50! Here is what one passerby on the CTV thread had to say about the story

"Let's get real here. This is just another attempt by media and those with anti-Canadian interests to undermine the fantastic work our Nation is doing in Afghanistan. Congratulations to the Taliban sympathizers!

How is what happens to prisoners that we hand over to Afghanistan Security Forces a Canadian problem? Our Charter does not extend to foreign nations."

I thought we were there to make a civil difference and restore democracy. Wouldn't protecting prisoners' rights be one of the democratic rights we must be fighting for? Just a question. And here is the response that was given to the press about the matter:"There are lots of possible explanations for how people get lost in the detention system," a Western official told the newspaper. "Some are benign, others much less so."

We're supposed to be there to make a difference. Losing prisoners, terrorists or not, is not helping to stabilize and bring peace to a country.

Perhaps Mr. Duceppe is right. Time to call Harper and his cronies on this.

And for all of you calling for the end of Mr. Dion and the death of the Liberal Party, I submit this as evidence that we are alive and well. Now let's bring on that Throne Speech.

Harper Set for November Election

Stevo, Stevo. Duffy thinks this is because Harpo doesn't want to "interfere with the Ontario election." Where else can you get a nice job for $200+K a year and decide to take 4 months off?

Well, a buddy of mine thought that there is the "potential" for a fall election. He might just be correct after all.

Well Mr. Harper, you've just proved to Canadians that you have absolutely no desire to make Government work. It's Government by the polls. Government with no agenda. Government with no "pressing" matters to deal with.

I guess the Kyoto implementation bill is out of the question.It's past its expiry date anyway.

The debate over Afghanistan can wait. No hurry. Hell. We're there until '09 anyway.

I'm certain Justice Minister Nicholson's crime bills that he claims are stalled aren't as important as he made them out to be all summer long.

The Conservatives have told us all year long that they just want to govern. Apparently their version of governing is quite different from what the Canadian people are used to seeing and are demanding. This "new government" is growing quite stale.

Quebec Soldiers Deployed

That's the reality of the situation. The Conservatives will drop in popular support in the Province of Quebec. Like sh@t through a goose baby!

Why? Quebec citizens just don't like this Afghanistan military movement. They won't be afraid to boot those Quebec Conservative MPs the heck out of their seats next election either.

I will not be surprised when the Canadian commanders try very hard to get the Royal 22nd Regiment a backup role for the first six months.

Naturally politics won't have anything to do with the Miltary's decisions!
