Reporters Taking Conservative Senator MacDonald to the Wood Shed

right now live on Twitter.

Here's what the undemocratic Senator had to say about CBC's Terry Melewski and CP's Jennifer Ditchburn:

SenatorJake Sen. ML MacDonald
Lovely day on Halifax waterfront for PM's trade status. CBC reporters Milewski and Ditchburn were like attack dogs afterward - pathetic!

CBC Melewski Blows Harper's Anti Coalition out of the Water. SNAP!!!

Terry Melewski's Article is a must read.

Here's how Flanagan and Harper begin:

"Although we like to think of ourselves as living in a mature democracy, we live, instead, in something little better than a benign dictatorship, not under a strict one-party rule, but under a one-party-plus system beset by the factionalism, regionalism and cronyism that accompany any such system. Our parliamentary government creates a concentrated power structure out of step with other aspects of society. For Canadian democracy to mature, Canadian citizens must face these facts, as citizens in other countries have, and update our political structures to reflect the diverse political aspirations of our diverse communities."

Here's a Campaign Tip For Candidates of All Parties

These are serious times in our country. Some say it's the mother of all fights for democracy itself. They may be right.

So, here's what NOT to do as a candidate:

1. Don't hire a kid who has never run a campaign before - let alone won one - as your campaign manager.

2. Don't hire a 7 time loser as your campaign manager.

3. Don't hire a recommendation from a friend as your campaign manager unless that friend is on your campaign and puts his/her money where their mouth is.

Thank you. Have a nice campaign.

Lizzy May is Out of the Election Debates

As I told Stephen Taylor a couple days ago, if you don't have a seat in the House, you ain't gonna be in the debate. Sad. But True. And, NO, it's not the fault of the other major parties. It's the media's call. End of story.

And, yes, this does help Gary Lunn in a very large way.Him and his five or seven or ten third party advertisers.

A million voter voices go unheard.

If I Lived in Mississauga, I'd NEVER vote for EVE ADAMS Again

Who does she think she is. The people of Mississauga have just entrusted her with a four year mandate to represent them and she abandons ship? I'm a guy who thought she had the makings to be the next mayor of Mississauga, so I think I'm entitled to express my deep disappointment with ex-councillor to be Adams. In fact, I'm totally disgusted.

She'll NEVER beat Navdeep Bains.

Harper Only Wants to Answer 4 Media Questions Per Day

This was bound to happen after opening day in Brampton. Gawd forbid he had to answer another question about hockey.

If I were the media paying to be on the campaign bus, I'd be asking for my money back!

From Twitter:

jenditchburn A little reporter envy here on the #cpc campaign. National media limited to only four questions per day to Harper. #elxn41 #cdnpoli

The Ghosts of Elections Past, Present and Future

Proof that Michael Ignatieff is the only leader in touch with everyday Canadians.

Jack talks about the past platform and things that will never happen.

Steve talks about the future (maybe I'll win the lottery) style tax break that might happen if the moon is in the seventh house, pigs fly and hell freezes over.

Michael talks about the present and what he'll do for Canadians TODAY. Like immediately.

Will Ray Sturgeon Become Harper's Karlheinz Schreiber

Seriously. You have to admit having a guy like this in government is more than just a little conflict of interest.

Under Investigation by the RCMP? No Problem, You can go Run a Campaign in Edmonton 4 Us

These Conservatives really don't have any shame.

Flanagan: Harper to take Power with no election in 2004

Right from the horse's mouth.

OTTAWA — A key adviser to Stephen Harper during his days as Opposition leader says the “co-opposition” arrangement Mr. Harper negotiated with NDP leader Jack Layton and Bloc Quebecois leader Gilles Duceppe in September 2004 was seen by Conservatives at the time as a potential avenue to a Harper-led minority government — without seeking Canadians’ approval in an election.

Tom Flanagan, the federal Conservatives’ former campaign manager and a one-time Harper chief of staff, told Postmedia News on Monday that the deal Mr. Harper described in 2004 as a “co-opposition” accord — but insisted then and insists now was not a formal coalition — was a “perfectly legitimate exercise” aimed at exploring whether there was “common ground for the Conservatives to undertake a minority government.”

What Harper Really Thinks About Coalition Governments

in his own words no less. How is it Canadians believe this Bullshitter.

Today's Conservative WTF Moment...Sell Me Some F-35's and I'll let you Run as a Candidate

The old reverse Accountabilty Act. Lobbyist quits to become Conservative candidate after making $30 Billion jet fighter deal with Harper. Only in Harper's world would this seem normal.

Gilles Duceppe: "Mr. Harper Lied"

"Mr. Harper called us to a hotel.....We changed the rules that day....Mr. Harper lied this morning. He was going to form a coalition in 2004 with the Bloc."

Good for Gilles Duceppe. He is and always has been a great party leader.

Poor Lonesome Helena Geurgis

They trampled all over her. They called the RCMP on her. They turfed her from the Party. They told her she ain't allowed back.

And, somehow, she stood up yesterday and voted WITH the government and did not find it in contempt. Bizarre really.

If I Hear the Words "Unnecessary" and "Election" come out of Harper and Baird's Mouth

...One more time I swear....

You know what. This Holier than thou, Military supporting, fighter jet buying group of Conservatives always take every opportunity they get to remind the nation how they support are brave men and women in conflict around the world. But do you really, Mr. Harper? Mr. Baird? Really?

As the proud owners of the only Commonwealth Parliament in history to be found in contempt it's more than hypocritical on their part. I see Baird rise in the House of Commons screaming at the opposition about wasting taxpayers money on an election - even lying to Canadians about the price tag by adding $100 million to the actual cost - and I think, man, too bad he can't just trip on his bar of soap and break his jaw.

We, as Canadians, have sent our brave soldiers to foreign lands where they fight and die to protect other people that are fighting for democracy and to just have the RIGHT to vote. We've planted many a Canadian child in the ground just to ensure those people of Afghanistan - and now LIBYA - have democratic rights to just have an election.

Yet, here at home, Mr. Harper and Mr. Baird don't think elections are "appropriate". I hope our service men and women see these hypocrites for what they really are so that they know their sacrifices aren't in vain.

Conservative/The Harper Government to Cease Ads?

Highly unlikely for a government in contempt.

Open Letter to the Clerk of the Privy Council / Lettre ouverte au Greffier du Conseil privé
[LE FRANÇAIS SUIT L'ANGLAIS]

For Immediate Release
March 24, 2011

Mr. Wayne G. Wouters
Clerk of the Privy Council
Langevin Block 80 Wellington Street
Ottawa, Ontario K1A 0A3

March 24, 2011

Dear Mr. Wouters:

As you are no doubt aware, a motion has been tabled in the House of Commons which seeks to find the government in contempt of Parliament, the result of which would be a loss of confidence in this government.

We are concerned that the Conservative government, which has taken every advantage in the past to use public dollars for self-promotional government advertising, will continue its current advertising campaign after this vote occurs, or to launch new advertising before a writ is dropped.

On behalf of Canadian taxpayers concerned about further abuse of public funds, we are calling on you to ensure that all Government of Canada advertising stops immediately once a vote of non-confidence passes in the House of Commons.

Over the past four years, the Conservative government has wasted almost half a billion dollars on advertising. $26 million has been spent since the middle of February alone. The previous President of the Treasury Board has admitted to overruling Treasury Board advertising guidelines. Now, reports indicate the Conservative government is using taxpayers’ money to promote and advertise the 2011 Budget, even as this budget does not enjoy the confidence of the majority of members of the House of Commons. All of this must stop once the House has lost confidence in this government.

Forcing taxpayers to pay for government advertising once their duly elected representatives have lost confidence in that government erodes the non-partisan image of the Government of Canada and, in your capacity as Clerk, we ask that you take the necessary steps to put an end to this inappropriate spending once a vote occurs.

Sincerely,

Michael Ignatieff
Leader of the Official Opposition

Where Have all the Conservative Trolls Gone?

It's too silent. Deafening really.

For months now I've been wondering where all those Conservative trolls that inhabit Blogworld have gone. They used to be here the minute anything anti-Conservative was written. Usually spewing the Conservative talking points sent to them.

I can only think of two reasons for their strange disappearance. 1. I've beaten them down and they no longer want to participate on this site. Or, 2. They have all been given jobs in Gov't agencies by the Harper Government.

I'll go with the latter.

"its time for Canada's economic leaders to stop pretending the country is at the top"

So much for the Harper Conservative Hyperbole about being the economic stewards of the Canadian Economy. I suppose in the scheme of things, being 11th is alright.

A question for Canadians: are you shocked that Canada, the country where fiscal cushions inspire heated debate in the House of Commons, sits outside the Top 10?

Canada ranks 11th in the index. Australia, New Zealand and Estonia are respectively first, second and third. Besides Australia, fellow Group of 20 countries China, Britain and Brazil rank ahead of Canada.

Conservative Minister of Nothing Lisa Raitt Already Dropping Campaign Phone Drops

As usual, the Conservatives are spending money before an election on campaign bombs. Tonight in Halton hundreds of people were voice bombed by the "cancer's sexy" Conservative Lisa Raitt.

Conservative Spending Priorities....Graphically

Harper's BIGGEST Mistake Ever!

Underestimating the Liberal Leader in an Election Campaign. As Julia Roberts once said: "Big mistake. HUGE!"

Harper Forming Coalition with Socialist Dippers

....While bribing the Separatist Bloc with 2.5 Billion.

Jack sits in Harper's office as we speak. Thanks for selling out again Jack.

UPDATE: Congrats to Jack Layton for not caving in. Godspeed to you Jack and we all pray for a speedy recovery to good health.

Another Day Another Conservative Under Investigation

This time it's Harper's own top advisor. Calling the RCMP to investigate after the fact because you've been caught never really works.

Mr. Carson went to work for the Canada School of Energy and Environment in 2008, a year after the school received a $15-million grant from the Conservative government.

He then took leave to work for the Prime Minister’s Office, where he was the director of policy and research and a senior policy adviser to Mr. Harper.

Harper's Canada

It's not for me.

Not to mention breaking his own fixed election law.

Last Night We Lost a Giant Amongst Men

I am proud to say I considered him a friend and an inspiration. In fact, you'd be hard-pressed to find a single soul that ever met him that would say his strength of conviction didn't rub off on them just being in the same room.

In recent days he was the strength of the Liberal Party in Burlington. But on all days he was the inspiration to many. He will be missed by all. He who did so much for so many. The world was a much nicer place with him here.

A message from Arlene:

Hello everyone,

John passed away yesterday, Tuesday March 15, 2011 at 7:45 pm at Joseph Brant Memorial hospital after a two month-long battle with pancreatic cancer. He died peacefully in his sleep. Information about a memorial service will be forthcoming.

Please forward this email to anyone you think would want to know.

Sincerely,

Priya Mohan

Harper Gov't Resembling the Mulroney Years

The Resign-o-metre is in full swing over at 24 Sussex. Who's in. Who's out....mostly who's out. Reminds me of the end of the Mulroney years where they were literally running out of people to put in cabinet. Of course the bonus back then was when Mulroney himself resigned.

Today another Conservative resigned. Rachel Greenfeld who was slated to run against Hedy Fry in BC. Yesterday Winnipeg Conservative, Ray Hall resigned as a candidate. That brings the total to five in less than a week with the news of stalwarts Chuck Strahl, Stock Day and John Cummins not seeking further mandates.

Who's next? Rona Ambrose?

An Apology to Stephen Harper from the Liberal Party of Canada's President

This guy is a lawyer. A lawyer in a very large firm. A large respected firm.

For him to use the words "Fraudsters" and "Con Artists" in his opening salvo on Power in Politics today is an embarrassment (yet again) to the Liberal Party of Canada. To my knowledge, not a single Conservative has been charged with "Fraud" in the "in and out scandal".

I expect the Conservatives will be taking action soon to have Mr. Apps withdraw his comments.
