When Will Denis Coderre Put the Party First?

Update: And the Coderre cheapshots continue along with the self-absorbtion.....and on a day we, as Liberals, are preparing to topple a government. Thanks Denis. It's all about you.

The answer is never.

There is no need for me to tell those of you who know me that I have a long-standing distaste for M. Coderre and his incredible, selfish desire to undermine almost every Liberal leader since he became an MP. In the Outremont by-election against Tom Mulcair, I stood within 5 feet of him whilst he gave an "anonymous interview" raking Stephane Dion over the coals.

In caucus, he did everything in his power to destroy not only Dion, but his entire OLO.

Today, being the same self-centred SOB that he is, Coderre has called a press conference, thereby now undermining his own leader of choice, Michael Ignatieff. (The OLO has no idea what the press conference is about or what he will be saying) With any luck he will do what he has asked many other sitting MPs to do over the past few months...step down and make room for new blood.

P.S. I'm really, really, really, really trying......but.....

To All Montreal Liberals: I ask you to join Martin Cauchon's Cause

Who better to fight Tom Mulcair than Martin Cauchon? I for one am ready to board a plane tomorrow to help this man win - whether it be a nomination first, or a straight out election battle. Who among you is with me?

Here are the past results for Outremont. Notice Cauchon's smallest margin of victory was a mere 4,400 votes.

About Rahim and Helena

Life is trying. Public life is even more trying. I am not condoning drinking and driving or drug use, but I pray that these two young people get through this extraordinary event they are going through and that Rahim finds the help he obviously needs to get back on track.

Political mistakes are one thing. Personal mistakes that lead to political gain are another. Let he without sin cast the first stone.

The New Democrats Gave up Their Right to Demand Anything

This is serious stuff.

And, this is serious bullshit:

New Democrat MP Judy Wasylycia-Leis said she's demanding an immediate investigation into the government's "callous, insensitive and incompetent" handling of swine flu preparations on First Nation reserves.

She said the government delayed sending hand sanitizers to communities and won't sponsor flu kits, but is prepared to send body bags.

"We find this absolutely abhorrent and repugnant," she said. "I think it just reflects a much deeper-rooted problem that Health Canada has in terms of recognizing the serious nature of H1N1 on reserves."

Really now Judy. If you think this government is as incompetent as all that, please feel free to relay that to your leader who is supporting them in a confidence vote.

Harper Forms Coalition with Separatists and Socialists

Jack and Gilles shall stay on the hill. For Gilles, he hopes to save those 19 Bloc members due for pensions next year. For Jack, he knows he'll lose half is seats, including Olivia's. Thus, a two income family becomes a one income family. For Harper, well, he can stop running those coalition ads. Makes him look stupid now, no?

Simpson Writes About the New Conservative/NDP Coalition Gov't

Simpson makes some noteworthy points in his article today.

Here's a couple of goodies:

Yet, what have we here? All of a sudden, the NDP, faced with the prospect of an election – and the possibility (probability) of losing seats – is sounding conciliatory and sniffing around for a possible deal with those awful Conservatives, the very strategy for which the NDP gleefully excoriated the Liberals month after month after month. No wonder the voluble Mr. Layton suddenly grew quiet.

and

Yesterday, too, Mr. Layton was back on the NDP line that the party wants a minority Parliament to work – which is not what the party has consistently wanted in voting against almost everything the government has proposed. Parliament works, in the NDP's world, when the government does what the NDP wants, but it doesn't work when the government pays little heed. Such is the hubris of the small.

Harper to form Coalition with Socialist Layton

I always knew Jack was full of it. Sure as heck he won't risk his seats to vote the government down next Friday. Say goodbye to your leadership and your base Jack. As for you Mr. Harper? Might wanna take those coalition ads off the air.

Marc Lavigne for President LPCQ

I know one thing is for certain - if I lived in Quebec, I'd be campaigning for this guy. Hell, I live in Ontario and I'm campaigning for this guy.

A message from Marc:

Dear Liberal friend,

Under Michael Ignatieff’s leadership, the Liberal Party of Canada is undergoing an important renewal. The Québec Lieutenant, Denis Corderre, has spent the past months travelling throughout the province and emphasizing the importance of unity within the Party and of the involvement of all its members.

Consequently, we would like to invite you to take part in the Biennial Convention of the Quebec wing of the Liberal Party of Canada, which will be held October 2-4 in Quebec City. The Convention will allow us to make important decisions for the Party as well as to elect a new President and an executive for the Quebec wing of the Party.

Our Party can do nothing without your commitment and without your participation. It is therefore important to make your voice heard by becoming a delegate!

Marc Lavigne, an experienced political organizer and a successful businessman, is a candidate for the presidency of the Quebec wing of the Liberal Party of Canada and would like to count on your support. Marc believes in active grassroots participation, in a significant presence of the Party in all the regions of Quebec and especially in a Party with healthy finances and with sound management.

Voting is Over...It's an Ignatieff Minority

Our totally unscientific poll, with a margin of error of +/- 20 or so, has predicted an Ignatieff led Liberal minority victory in a fall election.

There ya have it.

Julie Couillard. The Gift That Keeps on Giving

So, once again, Stephen Harper lied to the Canadian people. And, once again, I was waaaay correct when I said this story would have legs as long as Uma Thurman, what, a year ago now. Some senior Liberal strategists (the papers never name names, so why should I) begged to differ. I bet they ain't differing today. But hey, they're all in Ottawa and as a "former liberal activist", what do I know?
