The "What Do I Know Grit"
It's too bad there's no 'goldilocks' option... I find the constitutionally-mandated October date to be too soon, but 18 months is too long for my liking. Will it be possible to make amendments to the proposed reforms at the virtual convention?
The %'s seem to be fairly consistent from when I first saw this.
And this is probably indicative of the crushing defeat that will befall the beleagured and disingenuous National Executive.
Remind me -- what % is required to carry an amendment?
(Thought so. As it should be.)"Let's get it done in 2011."
You might want to consider someone like John Manley, or Frank Mckenna. These are Liberals who are centrist in their political views and can attract voters to the party. voters like me who feel that the Liberals under the past 2 leaders have gone far too left. Bob Rae will only push them further left. What we saw in the last election was a mass rejection of Liberal policies, there was no Mulroney-esque anger that the voters held against the Liberals. The Party needs to recapture the center, IMHO.
It is a dangerous thing to amend the party constitution. The party has time to do what is needed to be done within the current constitution's framework. And we need a real convention to elect a leader. I am tired of the leader by acclimation nonsense.
It does seem the choices are on the extreme. But the more important issue is whether the Party will truly rebuild. The Liberal Party needs to become a truly grassroots organization, which it is not. If it can do that then perhaps some former Liberals like myself will return. Good luck ... I hope it will be done.
Can't help but to notice the %'s are holding. We'll see how close this poll is to the actual vote results.Any indication that Apps will resign if the amendments fail to carry? Is there any sense that this is a vote of confidence of sorts on the Exec?
