Good for you James.
Now, my 2 cents on your homepage look:
IMHO you should clean up the top area so that a visitor immediately sees your two top posts - content is king. (A quick perusal of most blog sites will show they follow this rule.) Your graphics should support the site/brand but not get in the way of the user. Especially upon landing.
yeah well maybe after we all decide what banner to go with.
