Michael Ignatieff..."We're Putting the Conservatives on Probation"

"We're putting the Conservatives on probation."

What can I say? I told you the coalition was dead. I told you this budget would pass. End of story. Dion would have been Prime Minister next week. Michael could have been too. Oh well.

And, NO changes to the policies contained in the budget? NO CHANGES to the EI in the Liberal amendments? NO CHANGES to the housing clauses? NO CHANGES to help with day care and people on Social Assistance? What about green renovations instead of all renovations including your cottage?

WTF??? UNBELIEVABLE!!!

WHAT IS THE LIBERAL ALTERNATIVE PLAN? WHAT IS IT?

THE MEDIA AIN'T GONNA LIKE THIS TOO MUCH I BET.

James,

You know the mechanics so I ask...

Can someone still run against Ignatieff for leader of the Liberals?

Yes. Yes. Yes.

The cutoff for membership however is February 6. So time is of the essence so to speak.

The cutoff for candidates is not until March or April as far as I know. The Ignatieff team has been working hard to get delegates over the past month. Everyone I know has been called.

I find your abuse of the CAPS key disturbing

Haha, but seriously... We get the government we deserve. We elected these clowns, and Ignatieff wants them to sink instead of rising above them and taking charge. No need to murder someone when they will commit suicide, according to Ignatieff.

Politically I can see where Iggy is coming from. By not proposing amendments, he's making this budget 100% Harper's. So WHEN it fails and we go back to the polls, Harper will have one less out.

That being said, the only jobs this amendment will help are those of current and potential Liberal MP's which really saddens me.

I think you are underestimating the media's loathing of Jack Layton. They will eat this with a spoon and thank Iggy for sparing them a government that included the NDP.

It's a bloody farce. We need a new Party. Obviously the Libs are just like the CONs - don't care about the poor & those that really need help.

The Bloc & NDP seem too. Too bad there aren't Bloc candidates all across Canada. I, for one, have had it with Iggy. Gave him a chance - more than one - & he failed.

A VERY bad day for Canada.

My sentiments exactly.

This cuts it. MI has been tested and has shown, beyond all doubt, that he lacks the vision and courage this country needs now more than ever from a Liberal leader. This budget was his to make or break and he has chosen to support it.

Ignatieff knows this budget is hopelessly flawed. He gives a partial list of its failings in his statement this morning to the National Press Club. But he then seems to pretend that voting "for" the budget isn't accepting it.

I've had it with this guy. We need a leader who understands what it means to be Liberal.

It's amusing to see Bowie point out Blogging Tories criticizes the budget - at least they stand behind some kind of principles.
Him? Not so much....
