Too bad really.

Even though Cauchon would have basically been cannon fodder, it would have been good to have one more person in the race to make it a little more interesting. There has to be a least one more person that wants to enter to make this a better race?

I was kidding to some extent before of a draft GK movement, but maybe my problem of deciding is that none of the three really grab me at this point.

He's done your party a favor.. the need to rejuvenate the party wouldn't be assisted by a strong showing of a "former Chrétien heavyweight".

As a mostly neutral (conservative) viewer.. I tend to see Michael Ignatieff as your strongest leader.. with a nod to Leblanc for appearing to be a Liberal with some common-man appeal.. ..and, hopefully, the party will see Bob Rae for what he is ..I am amazed Bob Rae and his supporters fail to understand the need for positive change.

Rae's recent act is that of a petulant child - not that of a potential leader of this Country. Trudeau, for his failings, was a LEADER.. and he understood the need to clear the air behind closed doors.. as does Harper.. Rae's antics show he should go back to his NDP party where his talents can be best used… to bark, not to lead.

Wrong again Rob. Sorry. This is a short leaadership with several holidays in between now and then. Bob wants ALL party members to be included in this decision and has asked for televised weekly debates. 13 in total. Naturally Iggy's Team will be denying that. This move by Rae is all about leadership and inclusiveness. We are NOT the Conservative Party of Canada. We are the Liberal Party of Canada and we ARE an open party.

Iggy supporters had no problem using their blackberrys to report the ongoing bullshit in closed door caucus meetings, so why now is everything a secret? Why?

That is a very good point, Jim. Very good indeed.

Hey.. if I thought I could throw some fodder at the Liberal executive for their "secret" meetings.. I just don't see it.

And.. even if it were so, it does nothing to help the party for Rae to go public and cry about it.

Just my $.08

Saying you're a "neutral" observer, followed up by the admission you're a Conservative seems to me to be a bit of an oxymoron, Rob.

I think he means he's neutral in that he has not dog in this Liberal race, Scott. Rob clearly doesn't have all his marbles as he supports the Conservatives (JOKE, Rob), but he's been a fairly sanguine rationale commenter here so his comments and criticisms are merely the usual Conservative kool-aid drinking spit and drivel.

sorry - bad typo. Should have read "his comments and criticisms are not the usual Conservative kool-aid drinking spit and drivel."

Rob, you are always welcome to voice your opinion here. They are constructive for the most part.

I was in a funk yesterday.. did a post about whether there was much point in blogging as we all tend to preach to the converted.. but today, the thought struck me that, as bloggers.. at least we ALL have one thing in common - we care enough to spend the time to at least think about what's going on in the world, and actually spend the time to give our own thoughts.. while half of our electorate can't even be bothered to vote.

So.. as the Liberal party right now is much more interesting than the Conservative party, I'm quite curious and to some degree "involved" in the discussion of the leadership..

To some degree it is akin to the PC leadership race in Alberta where a significant part of the voting members were clearly not conservative.. but wanted to put in their two cents on the chance that they were possibly seeking to choose the next Premier.. which it turned out they were. Not that I think the next PM will be Liberal.. but on the one in a billion chance (lol), I'll give my thoughts for whatever little they are worth from a "mouth-breathing pyjama wearer".
