Harper is at War: Dion

Stephane Dion is starting to emerge from under his self-imposed shell. Bold statements like these get headlines. As I told one national co-chair over sushi recently, the Canadian public is just waiting for the guy to tell them something...anything.

He made his mark as a "man of letters". Notorious for writing to Quebecers in letters to the press. It's high time we see that confidence again.

As for Harper? I think this line summed him up in a nutshell:

"He's wielded his power as head of government to attack the state. It's across the board, whether it's the Senate, the Canadian Wheat Board, the Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission, Elections Canada, these are all institutions of the state that he doesn't like."

Truth be told, this Harper guy has been fighting Canadian institutions forever, and he isn't going to stop until they are dismantled.

Donate to Stephane here. Make your voice heard.

And yet he props Harper up. Paradox, no?

Here's a tip: when drafting a non-confidence motion, it shoul probably have some subtance and not piss off the other 2 opposition parties.

Ok, I grant you this motion:

That the House recognize the harmful effects on working and middle-income Canadians of the growing income gap fostered by this government's unbalanced economic agenda, including it's failure to reform employment insurance to ensure that people who lose their jobs during economic downturns are protected and trained, and therefore the House has lost confidence in this government.

Will piss off the Bloc because of employment insurance, but why does it piss your guys off? Your party says this kind of thing every day.

You're going to fight an election on prosperity gap? This is what I mean about the Dippers having little substance.

You don't fight the election only on the particular non confidance bill.

You fight an election based on the aspect that dominates attention at the time. If you fight an election now you are going to be fighting it over democracy, fair elections and government transpancy. The particular vote doesn't matter at all. The public doesn't care.

You're kidding right?

The Canadian people always want to know what pressing matter you dragged them into an election over. Your prosperity gap thing is not the issue at hand.

I missed all those other things you mention here in your Dipper motion today. Why? Cause they are not in the motion.
This is just a shitass motion so that you can finger point at the Liberals AGAIN that they didn't bring Harper down. Well start pointing.

Well James, how about Kyoto, the budget, this government's war with the civil service, its immigration policy, film censorship and Afghanistan? I suspect the opposition would have little trouble convincing people this government is in need of a good kicking. But hey, go ahead and prop the Tories up some more. It just means more donations to the NDP.

Those are great issues Greg. None of which are in your motion. Start pointing.

I think the reason the NDP are nicknamed Dippers is because it reflects what they are: a bunch of dipsticks.

So let's see, either an election should be called over a debatable immigration policy that while giving the Minister draconian powers would put higher emphasis on economic needs from our immigration selection procedures, or an election over whether sex and violence should be depicted on film. Maybe the latter should be called the XXX rated election.

I was tempted to have an election this spring during this elections canada fiasco. But now I think we should wait until the fall, when we can get back to talking about the environment after Dion owns all your sorry asses with his summer tour.

You are right, perhaps if neglected democracy, fair elections and government transparency will be soon old news. And the election will not be fought over these.

Now is the time if these are important to you.

In fact Dion should have made an announcement stating that he would fight an election at the earliest opportunity to reinforce these values.

Standing up takes courage. But if you don't stand up others will walk over you, until you are nothing but dirt.

Yes I believe these are more important than Kyoto, because without them there is no accountability to anything, let alone Kyoto.

Great! He's graduated from being a turtle to being a chicken. Ain't that grand?

Bold statements like these get headlines.

And makes him look shrill. The big bad bully Harper! Ooooooooooohhh!

As I told one national co-chair over sushi recently, the Canadian public is just waiting for the guy to tell them something...anything.

My, my, sushi din din with a Liberal bigwig.....aren't you the little Liberal elitist. Well, get used to waiting. Its not like you haven't done enough of it already.

He made his mark as a "man of letters". Notorious for writing to Quebecers in letters to the press. It's high time we see that confidence again.

Confidence slips off Dion like teflon. The guy is despised in his own province.

Truth be told, this Harper guy has been fighting Canadian institutions forever, and he isn't going to stop until they are dismantled.

Some of these, er, "institutions" have been nothing but dead weight at best, and at worst, safe havens for Liberal propaganda. Harper will win this fight for the betterment of Canada, which will be to the dismay of Liberals everywhere.

vDon't forget to Vote Ignatieff in the next Liberal leadership race -coming soon to a leadership convention near you. :D

Sushi is one of the most delicious delicacies to grace God's Green Earth. Say whatever you feel but don't you dare bash on sushi!
