Today Liberals Failed Women

There's something I never thought I'd never hear myself write. To make matters worse, I had to hear our leader say -over and over again- "it's a 25 year policy". Point being, if we feel that strongly about it, why wasn't this causcus whipped to support our own motion which was non-binding????????????? What a slap in the face to women every where.

Embarassing really.

UPDATE: In case you thought nobody else noticed this ridiculous performance in the HoC today....

Because Iggy is a really bad leader.

You'd think that with Harper *effing up the country so much, the Liberal numbers would be much higher, no?

CWTF, I regret that you're right. Harper's life support system these past four years has been Liberal ineptitude. The Cons have had their share of failed leaders - i.e. Clark and Day (I know, he wasn't technically a Conservative) just not two in a row.

There's a patina of failure that sets in without robust, effective political leadership.

Even the Lib party faithful can't decide who to support. Why should the Canadian voter give them the nod?

The Liberal Party failled women with its failure to understand that that private member's bill to repeal the gun registry was anything other than a government intiative (and bad policy).

The problem wasn't the motion, it was the execution.

How the Hell does the Liberal caucus screw up an argument that basicly comes down to the Harper Tories being more eager to defend George Bush than poor women?

Really. How? And how do we fix the caucus?

How do we fix the caucus????? Hrmf! Easy. Allow open nominations!

So the caucus can break the party line when it comes to protect women's rights and maternal health policies that have proven themselves to be successful, but they can't break the party line when they're told to support minimum sentences for drug possession, even though drug prohibition has repeatedly proven itself to be a total failure?

Iggy's heart just ain't in this - it's glaringly obvious. You get the feeling that he'd rather be doing something else entirely.

It's not a failure to women. It's a failure to feminists.

James Curran said...

Sure. Cause feminists are the only women that give a shit about women's health issues.

You win today's award.
