Who's The No-Good Bastard Now, Mr. Keddy!?!?

Only in Stephen Harper's world should MPs take four months off and still get paid $158k a year to do it. Nova Scotians should call for the resignation of the entire Conservative Party.

You see, it's okay for Mr. Keddy and his friends to take off time and get shovelled truckloads of taxpayer money, but those poor folks out in Nova Scotia that can't find a job had to be subjected to his idiotic slurs. Hey, maybe some of those folks out in Nova Scotia can offer to be temps while Keddy and the boys head off to the Olympics. At least Nova Scotians WANT to work.

Hear, Hear! Gutless cowards they all be and shameless too.
Here is hoping 2010 is the year Canadians en mass throw these useless, self-serving bums out on their collective asses.
We are experiencing the worst recession/depression this country has seen in decades with high unemployment rates and murder/suicides, and all these guys do is cover their asses, drag their asses, and go on vacation(s)? Je me souviens!

p.s. James, all the best to you and yours in 2010! Keep up the good work and good luck!

Yup, that's one of their privileges I guess.

They go to the Olympics, brag and boast, while Canadians have to go to work during the Games - the same Canadians who's taxpayer dollars went into the Games.

How fair is that?

Hopefully, 2010 will be a much better year.

All the best to you and your family.

four months
or
28 sitting days delayed

What calendar are you using?

Jan 25, 2010 (original date)

March 3, 2010 (new date)

I only can find Feb, please tell what other months did you include.

Thanks.

I guess math isn't your strong suit. December, January, February and then March. Who's idea was the non-sitting during the Olympics? Certainly it was the Government's so they can get all their medal photo-ops.

CanadianSense said...

Dec 10, 2009 did the Liberals not support a supply Bill with the NDP extending confidence in the current government?

Need a link with photos in QP?

Same day they passed a bill demanding Colvin memos?

Ooops all of December?

You hold this government responsible for delaying the opening of parliament by 28 sitting days (Feb) to the Christmas holiday as four months?

Is the Liberal math?

CanadianSense said...

March 03, 2010 -reopens

On your calendar how many days does March have because you included March as well.

Do you have a special calendar?

James Curran said...

So sue me dumb ass.

Or maybe sue the Cons for all the fucking paperwork alone that those 30 bills they just killed are printed on. So much for that tough on crime bullshit they spew.

CanadianSense said...

James Curran,

I simply asked you to back up your math.

Personal hostility aside I hope you win you position for the LPOC.

Best of luck.

Regarding the Bills they killed:

Government bills that have not received Royal Assent prior to prorogation can be reinstated in the next session only if the House takes a decision to this effect. All items of Private Members' Business are automatically reinstated.

Time off

During a period of prorogation (or recess), the Speaker, the Prime Minister, Ministers and Parliamentary Secretaries remain in office and all Members of the House retain their full rights and privileges.

Only a some business may be impacted. If the House on March 03, 2010 is serious they can quickly move those delayed Bills without the obstructionist Liberals in the Senate.

“It wouldn’t surprise me one bit if they decided to prorogue Parliament... I’m sorry if I sound a little cynical. This is a government (for which) the rules of engagement don’t apply. They’ll move the goal post, change the boundaries and bribe the referee.”

- Deputy Conservative Leader Peter MacKay commenting on unfounded rumours that the Liberal government planned to prorogue in 2005 (Nanaimo Daily News, July 18, 2005)

Prime Minister Stephen Harper has taken the unprecedented step of shutting down Canada’s Parliament for nearly three months, until after the 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympic Games.

Prior to Mr. Harper’s decision to shut down Parliament, the House of Commons had a scheduled break week from February 15-19, 2010 – during the first week of the Vancouver Olympics.

Let’s compare this with the last time Canada hosted the Olympic Games – in 1988.

The Calgary Winter Olympic Games were held from February 13-28, 1988.

In 1988, Parliament sat for four weeks from January 17-February 12, and then had a one-week scheduled break week adjournment from February 15-19 – coinciding with the first full week of the Calgary Olympics. Parliament then resumed sitting again on February 22 – which means Canada was able to govern itself at the same time as the Olympic Games were underway.

Then-Prime Minister Brian Mulroney spent 10 days at the Calgary Winter Olympic Games, without having to shut down Parliament. He attended the Opening Ceremonies on February 13 and remained in Calgary for six more days during the scheduled break week. Mr. Mulroney then returned to Ottawa, before coming back to Calgary for the last weekend of the Olympics (February 26-28) and the Closing Ceremonies.

The only obstructionist are the Conservatives that don't want to face the music. End of storey. That's twice Harper's killed his own bills.

CanadianSense said...

James you already agreed it is not four months.

With the support from the Liberals those Bills will be allowed, we only have a small delay.

The work goes on, a few committees have been affected 1-4?

The timeout just breaks the control by the Liberal senate.

On March 3, 2010 the Liberals can hold the current gov't to account.

I have heard from many Harper is running or avoiding since 2006.

James clearly the Liberals are in support of the legislative Agenda and have been closely aligned in voting confidence since Martin lost power.

The Dion Liberals did not support accountability and the NDP had to step up.

So this minority parliament period from 2004-Present is not a problem.

I don't understand how you can mock the legislative agenda when the Liberals are supporting it everytime.

Are you unhappy with the Liberal Party?

CanadianSense said...

Correction the minority parliaments of Martin-Harper from 2004-Present are not a bad thing.

James Curran said...

Oh please. Spare me. You know what else will be next. The repeal of abortion rights and same sex marriage. But thanks for the Conservative talking points.

CanadianSense said...

James

Why are you invoking the "hidden agenda" line?

In this minority the current gov't need the support of at least 10 MP's to remain in power or pass their legislative agenda.

According to the Press the Liberals are prepared to keep supporting the Harper led government.

James Curran said...

Here's what I'm hearing now NONSENSE. blah blah blah blah liberals love cons....blah, blah, blah, blah in the media.....blah, blah blah blah.....libs supported therefore emperorer great.....blah, blah, blah, blah.....

Tell it to the Dippers. They're the ones on the hook for supporting this rump of a goverment.

James Curran,

I did not say no one is paying attention.

I wish you and the Facebook group a great deal of luck.
