Voting is Over...It's an Ignatieff Minority

Our totally unscientific poll, with a margin of error of +/- 20 or so, has predicted an Ignatieff led Liberal minority victory in a fall election.

There ya have it.

Scary that the poll was done on a Liberal friendly blog... and Iggy can't get better than that...

Such a poll is a soother for Liberals but then there is the real world. A Liberal minority would require the re-forming of the coalition that Canadians so despised the first time around. Mr. Ignatieff may be mum on the subject but that too is reality. I suppose like so many I will have to vote Conservative so my vote is not tainted by the Bloc. "If you are the enemy of my enemy then you are my friend."

As a sport shooter how could I possibly vote for the Liberal Party when they have cynically attacked my culture in their quest for urban votes? Toronto is the prime example. Your urban Ignatieff is shilling the same old failed policy on firearms in the hope the fearful and uninformed amongst us will vote Liberal. Liberals speak of splitting the country but the present electoral map shows a country split along largely urban/rural lines and that is due largely to the Liberal policy on gun control and the lack of provable results for that policy. Trying to shift the blame will fool only the gullible and adds salt to the wound for the rest of us.

Might I remind you that mr. Harper has done F A to repeal the gun registry. In fact, there are no plans in the making for such a repeal. Police enforcement agencies want the registry. That's a fact.

What do we do if the Liberals and the Conservatives both end up with the same number of seats anyway?

Brent, it is simple. They will form a coalition government.;)

Sport shooting a culture? A hobby or pastime perhaps but not a culture.

JP, food for thought........
OED - "culture: improvement by mental or physical training." Sport, shooting, hunting and fishing are as surely a part of my culture as ethnic folk songs and dance may be part of yours. Part of the current problem between urban and rural Canadians is that urbanites tend to believe only their culture and values have validity. Only the ignorant among us refuse to recognise and accept the broader reality.

There are two private member bills in the House & one in the Senate that would end the present long gun registry. They will all die on the order paper. What Canadian honestly believes that a minority Conservative government would stand a hope in hell of passing a government sponsored bill to end the long gun registry? As for police agencies supporting the registry, spend some time on the issue and you will find there is not unanimous support within police associations for the registry. Also, there is widespread opinion on record from all police agencies and levels speaking out against the registry both as a useless tool against crime and as a colossal waste of scarce resources. Fortunately, a majority of the populace want to see the end of the long gun registry. You may have a political stance but the science is against you and that is a fact!
