Simpson Writes About the New Conservative/NDP Coalition Gov't

Simpson makes some noteworthy points in his article today.

Here's a couple of goodies:

Yet, what have we here? All of a sudden, the NDP, faced with the prospect of an election – and the possibility (probability) of losing seats – is sounding conciliatory and sniffing around for a possible deal with those awful Conservatives, the very strategy for which the NDP gleefully excoriated the Liberals month after month after month. No wonder the voluble Mr. Layton suddenly grew quiet.

and

Yesterday, too, Mr. Layton was back on the NDP line that the party wants a minority Parliament to work – which is not what the party has consistently wanted in voting against almost everything the government has proposed. Parliament works, in the NDP's world, when the government does what the NDP wants, but it doesn't work when the government pays little heed. Such is the hubris of the small.

So now the NDP is bad for doing what the Liberals have been doing for a while now?

C'mon....

Welcome to politics in Canada. It's bad when someone else does it, but it's okay when you do it.

I guess Jack is okay afterall with the economic mismanagement of the Conservatives and a $56 Billion deficit and a deficit until 2015 and a tax on everything.

I guess the Liberals are too, otherwise Iggy would be PM, today.

James, it was pointed out long ago that the Connies could not manage the economy and that there would be huge deficits - Harper's little gnome fucked up Ontario and it would be folly to expect something else at the helm of Canada.

That said, the Liberals were quite content to prop up Harper. Now that it is "convenient" for the Liberals to want an election, they expect that other parties will oblige them...

Now some Liberals are attacking the NDP for playing ball with the Connies...
Somehow it's different when they do, because it always is.... right?

Maybe Iggy can waive his finger and put the NDP on "probation"....

LMAO...feel free to scroll through my archives to see my opinions on Flaherty, the NDP and Liberals supporting the Conservatives.

Um, Greg, Iggy legitimately became leader in May. The house adjourned in June. I guess this would be the first REAL opportunity to get that chance to become PM.

And Jack sells out for a "TEMPORARY" EI change that will be phased out faster than it will begin and is simply a ploy to impose a PAYROLL tax on everyone.

Say hello to the new leader, Tom Mulcair.

What a steaming pile, James. Iggy became a "legitimate" leader when the caucus chose him leader. Really, between the Liberals and the Conservatives I can't decide who understands our system of government less.

Oh I'm pretty familiar with democracy, or lack therof, Greg. But perhaps jack can take down this government and teach us all how it works.

James you just objectived a woman as a sexual object to make your political point - how progressive, I'm impressed.
Member of LEFT-WING FRINGE' GROUP CALLED WOMEN.

Was that a woman? Sorry about that Jan.

Its not a tax on everything.
Also, the rich are still rich.
And these games are all for votes. They think the electorate will have a better atttude towards the NDP.
The Bloc are a bit more genuine about actual support of a program.
